What does a job actually run?
Hourly while we dry, then a single written figure to rebuild.
Extraction and structural drying are metered by the hour and logged each day. Reconstruction after that is quoted as one dollar total. The two halves price differently because they work differently.

Drying water damage runs $61 an hour. A water damage repair, $69 an hour. A water damage cleanup, $79 an hour. An emergency call runs $90 an hour. All four are starting rates that depend on the job.
Why is drying hourly?
Because material dries on its own schedule, not ours.
Some walls give up water in two days, some in five, so an honest bill tracks the hours. A rebuild is the opposite: state law makes home improvement work name its whole price in dollars before it starts.
Is the reading free?
Yes. No bill follows a look, ever.
We meter the loss and leave you a written scope, and you decide from there. That same reading is what a carrier asks to see, so the visit does double duty at no charge.
Why avoid a price range?
Because a range is a guess dressed as a quote.

When does a visit cost you nothing?

If the reading says the house is dry, there is no work to sell and we leave the number behind. That is the cheapest visit either of us can have.
What is never on the invoice?
The drive, the first visit, and the paperwork the carrier asks us for.
Equipment and crew hours are what move a bill. Everything around them is the cost of doing the job properly and it sits on our side.
Why is the rebuild half not hourly?
Because California law puts the total in dollars in the signed contract.
Drying is metered, so it is billed by the hour. Reconstruction is scoped and written once, and the figure cannot drift after you sign.
Where does your bill end?
At what we did, and not a line past it.
A water job or a mold job is billed for its own hours. A plumber’s work or the city’s is theirs to invoice. The insurance claim draws on our record, and the dispatcher marks the boundaries.
